CREATING THE LIVING PLATFORM

Our FoWlab jam platform is one of the most popular - and effective - channels we use in the Future of Work and for work with clients; one of our recent jams generated more than 4,000 comments over 72 hours. So, having designed and created a simple, intuitive and collaborative tech platform for gathering ideas, our next challenge was to create an innovative way of analysing and reporting these insights. We wanted to invent a reporting platform that would reflect the organic and energetic nature of our online conversations: our Living Platform. Read more.

THE DRUCKER FORUM: IMPROVING CAPITALISM

Lynda is speaking at the 2012 Drucker Forum, to be held on November 15-16 in Vienna. This year's theme is a call to action for improving capitalism, and Lynda is joined by Nobel Laureate Dan Shechtman, Roger L Martin, The Economist's Adrian Wooldridge and Lynda's long-time collaborator Tammy Erickson. You can access the full programme here and register to attend by clicking this link.

THE 'BIG IDEA CROWD" IN JAPAN CONGREGATES ROUND THE SHIFT

The huge success of the social (online) book reading event in Japan recently, where the blogger Chikirin organised a discussion of The Shift, really captured our attention in London - and we hope it will lead to many more sessions around the world. While the tweets are in Japanese, you can get a feel for how responsive people were to the topics - 3,000 tweets in two hours! - and there were such interesting questions raised. Some examples include: will the third shift occur in developed countries only; and have high energy costs slowed down the movement of human capital. Lynda recorded a special message to the readers - click the image to view.

LYNDA JOINS PORTER AND WELCH IN NEW YORK
TO DISCUSS LEADERSHIP IN ACTION

Lynda spoke recently at the World Business Forum at Radio City Music Hall in New York. It was a veritable who's-who of speakers, with Michael Porter, Jack Welch, Richard Branson, Jim Collins, Don Tapscott and Ursula Burns among others. You can see a video of Lynda's speech here, as well as Michael Porter's here.

In fact, the World of Business Ideas (WOBI) site is full of great content, streamed videos, information and a magazine and is well worth a look.

WHAT YOU MISSED: THE FoW LAUNCH

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the London launch of our biggest Future of Work Research Consortium to date! A record number of people turned up to kick start the latest cycle of the world's largest research project on the workplace. Member companies - FoW4 has 38 members responsible for 1.8 million employees across more than 200 countries - joined in co-creational exercises based on the three themes of Organisational Agility; Future Talent; and Business and Society. WHAT WE'RE READING

A recent article in Wired reveals the story of a primary school in London, which held a creative activity day where 240 kids - aged five to 11 - learned how to write computer code. With the help of a Raspberry Pi computer and some Lego WeDo, the children started by being taught MIT's Scratch Programming language, before using the coding to program a motion-sensing Lego WeDo crocodile to bite down on their finger. The man behind the day was a parent at the school, Nick Corson: he had been inspired by a TED talk from Sir Ken Robinson. Creating a class of computer whizzkids: is that what you'd call opening the Gates to the future?
